Arghhhh. . .

So my mom calls me tonight, and says that she cut the pieces for the quilt that I said I would help her with, and wanted to know if I can I help her figure out the rest. Let me give you some background. My mom doesn't have a rotary cutter or a cutting mat or a cutting ruler. She has never, ever, ever pieced a quilt in her entire life. So I ask if she borrowed a mat and cutter from someone, she says no I cut them with scissors.....
Have you ever tried to cut out pieces for a quilt with scissors? Thats like going back in time a hundred years. . . .grrrr the frustration.
I told her when I helped her pick out the fabric that I would help her strip piece it. much faster and easier that way. especially for her first pieced quilt. Now we are going to have trim each of the pieces that she cut so that they are the same, so that the seams with match up and then we can't really strip piece it because now she has squares instead of strips. I could have saved her a lot of time and energy if she had just listened.
Is this what parents feel like when their kids do stupid crap and don't listen, and have to learn the hard way?
Oh well I s'pose that we'll just muddle through it.
Someday she will perhaps listen to me. I really doubt it though. She is stubborn, hard headed and just a little nutty. :)
Good thing she is so loveable.

More from before

I have been making quilts for a long time now, about 14 years actually I started in High School. My good friend gave me a quilt for my 17th birthday. It was all over after that. I used to just do the sandwich type, but now I piece the tops. Here are some of my favorites that I haven't given away. (I have given away a lot of ones that I love) I didn't used to take pics. Wow have I learned my lesson. Now I always take pictures so that if I want to re-create something I have done in the past then I can. I don't really use patterns I make up my own, so it helps to have the pis for memory jogging.

I made this attic windows pattern, (its the cheater way with no Y seams. . . I hate Y seams.) It's pretty cool because it makes these little pockets on every square!

This one I made for my sister for christmas one year, she chose the colors and I worked on it I think that she ended up getting it about 10 months late, but she does love it. :)

I wanted to make a black and white with a splash of color. I really love the way it turned out.

All Boxed UP

All boxed up is on of my favorite patterns. One pattern 3 different looks. I love the way that this patterns turns out everytime. This first one was given to a friend of mine for her birthday.
These other two are waiting patiently in my stash of quilt tops to be finished for someone.

I love sewing. It is my relaxing, getaway at home. Sounds like a chore for some people but for me it's like a vacation. :)
